• Project Name: Malcove Distributors
  • Location: East Tamaki
  • Project Value: approx. $1.2 million

This building is an addition to an existing building required by an ever-expanding business. The brief was to increase the footprint 1680m2 and do it quickly with the least amount of disruption to an existing operating business. The structure is not cold-formed steel but rather hot-rolled structural steel UB’s.

The building span is 42 meters and is 40 meters long, with an eave height of 8.5 meters. The outer perimeter is partial concrete tilt-panel to comply with fire rating requirements with the bonus of being able to stack product up against the wall without causing damage to the structure or the product. We also excavated and formed the new carpark and access driveway for trucks and delivery vehicles, drainage, plumbing and a new lunchroom, office and toilet facilities were designed and built as part of this project.

The critical aspects of this project were the connections into an existing building, the new internal gutter and keeping the site harmonious with all our site people and the existing business operations.

Macbuilt designed, built, and project managed the Malcove Distributors new addition from the start to completed project. The process involved:

  • Laying the concrete floor
  • Installing the concrete tilt panels
  • Eerecting the new building structure
  • Forming and executing the new internal gutter, roofing and cladding
  • Fitting new access and roller doors
  • Excavating the carpark and access driveways
  • Pouring concrete and kerb ways
  • Managing all the drainage
